Shopping my closet

Hi again, Blogger. Nice of you to join us! I got lax with posting outfits after the Blogger outage, but I wanted to post one tonight! This skirt and top are two things that are super old and don't get a lot of love from me (I'm not a pencil skirt girl), but on this day I decided to come up with a way to wear them together. I think it turned out well for items that I don't wear often. Looks like I inadvertently ended up "shopping my closet" after all, even though I'm not an official participant in Kim's challenge.

I love the ruffle!

Skirt: JC Penny
Top: NY and Company
Necklace: Gifted
Hallowed Halls Oxfords (Anthropologie)
Hair: see this tutorial

(And no, I did not wear these shoes two days in a row. I mean.)

I hear there's a big tag sale coming up, gulp. Let's hope my wallet can survive it. Goodnight, all!

  1. Aww business in the front, party in the back! Very cute outfit Katie, and the braid in your hair is a great touch.

  2. Yes- I LOVE this look- it's so simple, but the details are stunning. Don't you just love that?

  3. Oh, those ruffles on the back of your skirt are so cute. So glad you did both a front and back view! And love to see all the ways you're wearing the Hallowed Halls. I am regretting never purchasing those!

  4. I'm a bigger fan of the A-line myself, but pencil skirts look really good on you, too! Maybe you should look into that! Or maybe not, if your wallet is already hiding behind your bed trembling with fear ;-)

  5. Jess: Haha, that's a great description of this skirt! The braid is super easy, and if you grow your hair to your shoulders you should definitely try it! (Doesn't need to be all that long is the nice thing. I was doing it when I had shorter hair, and it made it seem much longer.)

Thirteen: Thanks! I strive for that effortless simplicity and feel like I rarely achieve it, so it's nice to hear that it worked for you.

Jamie: I love the shoes and they go with so much, so if you can track them down I think you'll be happy with them. The good news is Anthro may carry another version this fall, since they were a cousin of the Scarf-Tied Oxfords which I sadly missed out on.

Lili: Awww, thanks! I'm more for flowy skirts (as you probably know) and am not a fan of tight clothes, but I'm definitely intrigued by the Ackee skirt. If it gets a second cut tomorrow I may have to hunt one down. (Again, gulp.)
